چکیده

Abstract. We consider disorder-order phase transitions in the three-dimensional version of the scalar noise model (SNM) of flocking. Our results are analogous to those found for the two-dimensional case [1] and [2]. For small velocity (v ≤ 0.1) a continuous, second-order phase transition is observable, with the diffusion of nearby particles being isotropic. By increasing the particle velocities the phase transition changes to first order, and the diffusion becomes anisotropic. The firstorder transition in the latter case is probably caused by the interplay between anisotropic diffusion and periodic boundary conditions, leading to a boundary condition dependent symmetry breaking of the solutions.

New aspects of the continuous phase transition in the scalar noise model ( SNM ) of collective motion

In this paper we present our detailed investigations on the nature of the phase transition in the scalar noise model (SNM) of collective motion. Our results confirm the original findings of Ref. [6] that the disorder-order transition in the SNM is a continuous, second order phase transition for small particle velocities (v ≤ 0.1). However, for large velocities (v ≥ 0.3) we find a strong anisotr...

Cooperative Motion of Active Brownian Spheres in Three-Dimensional Dense Suspensions

The structural and dynamical properties of suspensions of self-propelled Brownian particles of spherical shape are investigated in three spatial dimensions. Our simulations reveal a phase separation into a dilute and a dense phase, above a certain density and strength of selfpropulsion. The packing fraction of the dense phase approaches random close packing at high activity, yet the system rema...

Collective motion of organisms in three dimensions

We study a model of flocking in order to describe the transitions during the collective motion of organisms in three dimensions (e.g., birds). In this model the particles representing the organisms are self-propelled, i.e., they move with the same absolute velocity v0. In addition, the particles locally interact by choosing at each time step the average direction of motion of their neighbors an...

نظریه میدان اسکالر کلاسیک با تقارن همدیس و پتانسیل نامثبت

We review the conformal symmetry group and investigate the isomorphism between the conformal group and O( D,2 ) . We study the classically  conformal invariant  scalar theory in D -dimensions with a non-positive potential . We solve the  equations  of motion  by  assigning O(D-1, 2)symmetry to the classical solutions with broken translational symmetry in all directions. Then we consider a six d...

NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF THE CASIMIR EFFECT DUE TO A SCALAR FIELD

In this paper, we study the Casimir effect of a scalar field with Dirichlet boundary condition in some certain topologies. By numerical analysis we show that Casimir energy is a shape-dependent quantity. We also obtain the phase transition in different topologies in which the Casimir force changes from attractive to repulsive or vice versa.  eararqr
